NON - WESTERN ART
Horses are not only portrayed through paintings and sculpture in America and Europe, but as well as throughout the world. As displayed in these works of art, horses may be illustrated in a different way than American and European interpretations. For example. the art piece called "Votive Tablet of a Horse" interprets a Japanese depiction of a horse-like automobile. The piece shows an ancient way of transportation combined with a modern automobile. This displays the technological advances in Japan. Through Japanese art, horses that are depicted with more ribs showing were considered the most beautiful. Chinese artists tend to enjoy painting their horses in simple, black ink which adds simplicity to the painting . In Indian art, non-realistic color inhabits the entire composition to create an overall feeling of jubilance.
